Week 32 August 6 - August 12

Day 1

Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.  It may seem like the wicked live well and at ease but they will be destroyed.  My heart and my flesh may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  But for me it is good to be near God.  I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.
We give thanks to You, O God, Your name is near and we recount Your wondrous deeds.

Day 2

No enemies can stand against the Lord. The Lord blessed His people and Hezekiah prospered.  He had great riches and honor, but he became prideful. The Lord said that because of this pride all of those treasures would be taken away.  Hezekiah accepted the words of the Lord and there was then peace and security in his days. We may become prideful about the blessings that we have but when we realize the pridefulness we must confess and be humbled.   Hezekiah dies and his son Manasseh takes the reign.

Day 3

You shall not fear other gods but the Lord your God, and He will deliver you out of the hand of the enemy.
Manasseh did evil in the sight of the Lord and rebuilt the high places and led the people astray. The Lord spoke to him and to the people but they paid no attention to Him. The Lord will rip away what the people have and give it to another.  Assyria captures them and take them away.  But Manasseh repents and the Lord delivers him and brings him back to Jerusalem.  Manasseh rebuilt the gates and took away foreign gods and idols.

Day 4

Amon, Manasseh's son reigns after his death.  He did evil and abandoned the ways of the Lord and never humbled himself like his father did. He was struck down and then Josiah became king at age 8. He did right in the Lords eyes and didn't turn aside to the right or to the left but followed the Lord.  He turned to the Lord with all his heart, soul and with all his might.
The Lord is a jealous God.  You can't stand up against Him and prevail.  The Lord is a good stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him.  The Lord will come and restore His majesty of His people.

Day 5

Josiah purged Judah and Jerusalem of the false gods.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. God spoke these words to Jeremiah.  Same applies to us.  He knew us before we were conceived. He loves, knows and cares about us more than we could even fathom.
Woe to those who are rebellious and defiled, them who listens to no one or accepts correction.  Ones who don't trust in the Lord; or draw near to God.  The Lord your God is in our midst, a mighty One who will save.  He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love, he will exult over you with loud singing.

Day 6

There was a warning on being complacent.  Seek the Lord and do His just commands, seek righteousness, seek humility, perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the anger of the Lord. Our Lord is full of patience but like any good father He will chastise if needed.  But the patience isn't everlasting if we chose to go our own way.

Day 7

Rebuilding of the temple.  Josiah found the Book of the Law and realized the sins that had been committed.  He prayed to the Lord because his fathers had not obeyed the words of the law.  He then read the book to all the people and made a covenant to walk after the Lord and to keep His commands. The people agreed with him.  Lord said, I will give you shepherds after My own heart who will feed you with knowledge and understanding,

Pray for those who teach us God's word to do it with clarity and truth so that we may all be blessed and know what is good and pleasing in His sight.

Happy Reading - Jeannie
