Week 30 July 23 - July 29

Day 1

King Hezekiah was terminally ill.  He was told to get his affairs in order.  He wept out bitterly to the Lord.  The Lord answered his prayers and gave him 15 more years.  However Hezekiah became proud because of his healing.  When the Lord does miraculous things for us we need to always be careful to not become proud but to give the praise to Him.
The grass withers and the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength   Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength  they shall mount up with wings like eagles;  they shall run and not be weary  they shall walk and not faint.

Day 2

The Lord is the great I AM - The first and the last.  God says, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed  for I am your God.  The Lord won't grow faint or be discouraged till He has established justice in the earth; the coastlands wait for His law.  I Am the Lord; that is My name; My glory I give to no other, nor My praise to carved idols.
Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise from the ends of the earth.  Fear not for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are Mine, I will be with you.  We are precious in God's eyes and honored by Him. He loves us.  We were created for His pleasures and to declare His praise.  He will blot out our sins and For His own sake He will not remember them.

Day 3

The Lord has formed us in the womb and will help us.  We can say, "I am the Lords".  He speaks the truth and declares what is right.   The people bowed down to idols, idols made of wood.  He is the only one we should bow down to.  The day will come when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord.  God isn't equal to any other.

Day 4

I Am the Lord your God who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.  If they had only paid attention to the Lord they would have had peace like a river, righteousness like waves of the sea, descendants like grains and their name would have never been cut off.  But God will restore His people.
Sing for joy and exult, break forth with singing.  The Lord has comforted His people and will have compassion on His afflicted.  The Lord will never forget His children.  Behold I have engraved you on the palms of My hands.

Day 5

The earth will wear out like a garment but the Lord's salvation is forever. He will comfort and cover us in the shadow of His hand.  How beautiful on the mountain are the feet of Him who brings good news, who publishes peace and salvation - our God reigns.    The Lord will go before you and will be your rear guard as well.
Jesus was rejected and despised.  He bore our griefs and sorrows, He was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities   It was upon Him the chastisement that brought us peace and with His wounds we are healed   All of us had turned and gone astray to our own way.  That sin was laid on Jesus and He died for all of us.

Day 6

God will gather His lost people with compassion.  The Lords steadfast love will not depart.  No weapon formed against us will stand.  God tell us that His thoughts are not our thoughts and that His ways are not our ways.  His thoughts and ways are so much higher than ours.  We need to trust Him.  All words from the Lords mouth will not return empty, they will accomplish that which He purposed and will succeed in the way He sent it.

Day 7

The righteous man is taken away from calamity and enters peace.  The people would fast and call out to God but in their hearts they were wicked and treated others with wickedness.
If we call ourselves Christians then we need to be on the inside and out.  The thoughts of our hearts and our actions should be Christlike when we are alone, at home or among other people.
The Lord's hand is not to short that He can not save, nor His ear too dull that He can't hear.  But our sin will separate us from God.  How can we get back close to Him if we do sin?  We must repent and change our way, look to Him for our help and strength.  If you are struggling with sin today get in His word.  Remember Gods word will always be and it will do what it sets out to accomplish.

Week 29 July 16 - July 22

Day 1

The Lord loves Israel but the more He calls them the more they walked away from Him.  He led them with kindness, love, fed them and healed them.  He so desperately wanted them to come back to Him. We can somewhat relate when our children do wrong and they seem to walk away from the right things.  We so desperately want them to come back to the right, Godly things but sometimes they continue to rebel.  But we still love them.  God will always love His children and will forgive them when they come back to Him.

I Am the Lord your God, you know no god but Me, and besides Me there is no savior. Return to Me, for you have stumbled because of your sin.  The Lord will take away your guilt.  Whoever is wise let him understand these things; whoever is discerning let him know them.  For the ways of the Lord are right and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.

Day 2

Israelites will be carried away and taken captive because of their disobedience.  They sinned and served other gods and took on the practices of nations that the Lord drove out.  He warned them but they were stubborn.
Psalms 80 was a plea for God to look at Israelites again with favor. Restore us O God; let Your face shine that we may be saved!

Day 3

Moab will be scattered, then a throne will be established in steadfast love. On it one will sit in faithfulness, one who judges and seeks justice and is swift to do righteousness. Lord will send a Savior and Defender and deliver them.  He will make Himself known to them.

Day 4

The Lord will destroy false strongholds and give those against Him no rest.  God will restore the remnant of Israel and house of Jacob.  They will lean on the Lord.  One is coming and the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him. He will have - wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge and fear of the Lord.  With righteousness He will judge, righteousness will be the belt of His waist and righteousness the belt of His loins.
God is my salvation; I will trust and will not be afraid.  For the Lord God is my strength, song and He has become my salvation.  Sing praises to the Lord for He has done gloriously. Shout and sing for joy.

Day 5

If we are Gods people and we go astray, He will always want us to come back to Him.  He desires to restore us. We may suffer discipline but it is because of His love for us.
O Lord You are my God; I will exalt You; I will praise Your name for You have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.  He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away every tear from all faces and take away the reproach of His people.  Behold this is our God and we have waited for Him that He might save us.  Let us be glad and rejoice in His salvation.

Day 6

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.  Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is and everlasting rock.  The path of the righteous is level.

Day 7

The Lord sent judgement on the nations because He was enraged with them.  They will then glorify the Lord.  Their eyes will be opened.  No unclean will pass over the Way of Holiness.  The ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing.  Everlasting joy will be on their heads and they shall obtain gladness and joy.  Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Throughout the ENTIRE bible we are shown how we need to repent and return to the Lord.  He is so clear about His love for us.  Also it is clear how if we don't accept His love and turn to other "gods" then He will turn away from us.  Those other "gods" are anything that has our attention, that keep us from fellowship with Him.  What is your main focus of the day?  We all have busy lives and things to keep us occupied, but if Jesus is your savior and He lives within you then talk to Him all day long!!!

Week 28 July 9 - 15

Day 1

The Lord will oppress Jerusalem and Judah, they are against Him and defy His glorious presence.  They have brought this evil on themselves.  Woe to those who don't regard the deeds of the Lord or see the work of His hands.  Woe to those who call evil good and good evil and woe to those who are wise in your own eyes.

Day 2

The Lord is coming and He will bring destruction because of their evil ways.  Woe to those who devise wickedness and evil.  There were some kings who ordered their ways before the Lord their God.  God said that there would be a sign of the virgin that will conceive and bear a Son.  His name shall be Immanuel -God with us. The child will be born and and his name will be Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Day 3

The Lord said that there would be judgement on arrogance and oppression.  But the people still didn't turn to the Lord in their distress. We live in a country that honestly feels like it may be going down...  This is the time for the people to turn to the Lord.   But God will judge and gather His people.

Day 4

God is against those who are against His people.  He will watch over us and fight for you if you are His.
King Hezekiah begins to reign in the South.  He trusted in the Lord and clung to the Lord and didn't depart from following Him but kept His commandments.  He reopened the doors of the Lord and repaired them.

Day 5

Judgement coming to those who went after other gods.  Return to the Lord.  God desires the steadfast love and not sacrifice.  He desires the knowledge of Him rather than burnt offerings.

Day 6

King Hezekiah sends letters to all the people to come and keep the Passover at the House of the Lord.  He told them to yield themselves and the Lord's anger would turn away. Some laughed and mocked but others humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.
Sing aloud to God our strength - Shout for Joy.  God says I Am the Lord your God, Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.   But some of the people wouldn't listen and He gave them over to their stubborn hearts.
People began giving a tithe and it was given in abundance.  Hezekiah continued to do what was right and faithful before the Lord.  Everything he did for the Lord, he did with all of his heart and he prospered.

Day 7

Others continued to do evil and pride surrounded them.  They still didn't seek the Lord and He will bring them down.  Woe to them. There was great iniquity and hatred.  They were deeply corrupted and their hearts were false.

Woe to those who don't know the the Lord.  Destruction will come.  So come to the Lord if you haven't already.  Cry out to Him and ask Him to come into your life and save you.  He is waiting for you and He loves you so very much.   If you need help praying to Him you are welcome to email me and I will call you pray with you.  djjkglover@msn.com

Week 27 July 2 - 8

Day 1

Lord spoke to Hosea and told him to take a wife of whoredom and have children with her. The Lord will put an end to the kingdom of Israel and have no mercy on them.  They will not be considered His people. The Lord will have mercy and be theirs if they put away their idols.  He just wants us to love and worship Him.  He is a jealous God and He deserves to have ALL of our love and devotion. He is so worthy of it.

Day 2

Jonah runs the other way when God tells him to go to Ninevah and tell the people that they will perish because of their evil ways.  If God tells to you go, He will be with you and help you.  But how many times do we hear God telling us to go and we think of all the reasons why we shouldn't.  Fear, money, commitments.  God will take care of it all for us so that we can do His work.  We just have to be willing to go!

Day 3

Judgement on Judah because they have rejected the law of the Lord, lies have led them astray.

Day 4

Many times the people of Israel should have turned to the Lord for comfort and help but they never did.   Seek the Lord and live. Seek God Almighty, Your Heavenly Father, Maker of Heaven and Earth, The Ruler of Everything, and live. The people wanted to worship false gods.  So the Lord raised up nations against them.

Day 5

Amos cries out on behalf of the people and the Lord continues to be patient with them.

Day 6

Lord accuses Israel,  There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, no knowledge of God in the land, swearing, lying, murder, stealing  and committing of adultery.  People broke all bounds and bloodshed follows bloodshed.  This was approx  3000 years ago but it sounds like what is happening today.

Day 7

Isaiah saw a vision from the Lord.  The seraphim called to one another, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory."  The Lord asked, "Whom shall I send?" and Isaiah said,"Lord Send Me!" Lord help me to have a willing heart to say, "Send Me!"

God's children had rebelled against Him, they were a sinful nation.  Full of sin and corruption.  They had forsaken the Lord and despised Him.  Lord will restore the people if they will learn His ways and walk in His paths.  The haughtiness of man shall be humbled and lofty pride will be brought low, the Lord alone will be exalted.

Week 26 June 25- July 1

Day 1
Elisha warns widowed women to leave area because of the famine is coming.
He also told the prophets to put on a large pot of stew.  They put whatever they could find in it, including poisonous plants.  Elisha threw some flour in it and prayed and the Lord blessed it and they would have enough plus leftovers.
Naaman the leper was a good man.  He was told by his wife's servant that there was a man that could cure him.  He went to Elisha and was told to wash in Jordan 7 times.  He wasn't happy because he thought that it should be done differently. He did it anyway and was cleaned. He wanted to thank Elisha with gifts but Elisha refused.  Gehazi wanted the gifts and ran after Naaman and took the gifts foolishly.  He was wrong and then received the leprosy himself.
Famine is so severe the people were even eating their children.

Day 2
Jehoram dies of severe bowel disease and no one honored him or regretted his death.
Four lepers go into Syrian camp. They are able to raid it because the Lord had scared all the men away.

Day 3
Jehu is anointed king. He had relatives of Ahaziah killed and had the men throw down Jezebel and she was killed. He also had all the prophets of Baal meet with him.  He tricked them and told them that they were going to sacrifice to him.  But once he had them all there he killed them.  Not only did he stand up for the Lord he purged the evil out as well. He wiped Baal out from Israel. Although he didn't turn aside from all sins.

Day 4
Joash as king made a covenant that the people should be the Lords.  He restored the house of the Lord.

Day 5
Joel - Tell your children and childrens children awaken. A call to repentance. Lord tells them to return to Me with all your heart.  He is gracious and merciful  slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love.  All who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.  There will be judgement but the Lord is a refuge to his people, a stronghold to the people of Israel. He is our stronghold too.

Day 6 - 7
A box was placed in the temple to collect the money from the people.  The money was collected and was abundant.
Zechariah stood up and asked why did the people go against the Lord.  Now that they had forsook Him, He will forsake you.  The people stoned him and as he was dying he said, "May the Lord come and avenge."
Amaziah took 300,000 choice men to war and hired 100,00 men from Israel to go to war.  The Lord told him to send away the the Israelites because He wasn't with them. Amaziah was worried because he had paid them already.  But he was told that the Lord would blessed him with more than what he had spent.  He listened and sent the men away.

This is a hard part of scripture to keep track of.  Going back and forth with the North and South and then different kings.  Who was evil, who was good.  Then they turn from being good to bad.  Sounds like the times today.  A leader may start out ok, but then go down the wrong road.  Well if you are still reading stick with it.  Even when it gets a bit confusing and (like me) feels like you are just trying to figure out who is in charge of what people. Keep reading and just think.  You are more than 1/2 way through.  What an awesome accomplishment.  You are being blessed by His word!!!

Week 25 June 18-24

Day 1
Ahab is reigning over Israel.  He is doing evil, erecting altars for Baal and made Asherah poles. He did more to provoke The Lord to anger than all the Kings of Israel before him. He acted abominably. Jezebel (Ahab's wife) cut off all the prophets but Obadiah hid them and took care of them.
King Asa is diseased in his feet. His disease gets worse but he did not seek The Lord, but physicians.
Jehoshaphat reigns in fathers place (Asa). Walked in same ways as father but didn't remove all the high places. Jehoshaphat sook The Lord and his heart was courageous in the ways of The Lord. He sent his officials out to teach the law of The Lord. He had many riches and mighty men. He made a marriage alliance  with King Ahab. (Bad move)
Elijah tells Ahab that there will we be a drought and the Lord took care of Elijah. Lord sent him to a widow to give him food. She had only enough for her last meal for her and her son and then she would die. She did as he told her and the oil and flour never ran out. The widows son becomes ill but Elijah prays over him and he lives.

Day 2
Elijah is told to go to Ahab. Ahab and Obadiah went out in search of food.  They meet and Elijah tells Ahab to call on his Baals to provide for him and Elijah will call of The Lord. Baals do nothing. Elijah pours 12 jars of water on his sacrifice and Lord sent fire down and consumed it all. He then seized all the prophets of Baal and slaughtered them. Jezebel said that Elijah would be dead like the prophets by the next day. Elijah feared and ran. God again took care of him and fed him for 40 days & nights. God told him then to anoint Hazael king of Syria, Jehu king of Israel, and Elisha prophet in his place.
After God showed Himself to be amazing with the sacrifice, Elijah ran and was scared of Jezebel.  Sometimes God shows us amazing things and we get scared too.  God can take care of the scary stuff in our lives.  We just need to trust and allow Him to.

Day 3
3 years with no war between Israel and Syria.
Naboth had a vineyard but Ahab wanted it. So he asked if he could buy it but Naboth said no, it was his inheritance. Ahab pouted and whined. Jezebel finds out why he is pouting and has Naboth killed so Ahab can have vineyard. Elijah goes to Ahab and tells him he has done evil and he and all of his family will die. Ahab humbled himself so Lord said that He wouldn't bring this trouble in his days but in the days of his son.
Jehoshaphat and Ahab were going to go to war together. The prophets told them to go but
Jehoshaphat said they should inquire of The Lord.  Micaiah, the prophet, told them not to go but Ahab had him put in prison. Ahab disguised himself and they went out to war. A random arrow hit Ahab and killed him, Ahaziah , Ahab's son, reigned in his place.

Day 4
Jehoshaphat returned home from war and Jehu, the prophet, encouraged him and he feared God.
Ps. 82 Rescue the weak and needy - deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
Jehoshaphat appointed Levites and priests - told them to do their work in the fear of The Lord with their whole heart. When people came up against him he had all the people, including women and children , fast and stand before The Lord.

Day 5
Don't be silent or still Lord, go after Your enemies. Fill their faces with shame that they may seek You, that they may know that You alone, whose name is The Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.
God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble.  Be still and know that I Am God.
Don't be afraid the battle isn't yours but the Lords. You don't need to fight, stand firm and hold your position. Don't be afraid or dismayed, The Lord will be with you.

Day 6
Ps. 48 Great is The Lord and greatly to be praised.
Dread of God is on all kingdoms because God fought on behalf of the Israelites. Jehoshaphat and Azaziah allied together to make ships to go to Tarshish. God didn't agree so he didn't allow ships to sail. King Azaziah sent 50 men to Elijah three times. The first group all died, second group died, third group asked for their lives to be spared.  Elijah said, " Is there no God that you try to inquire of Baalzebub  the false god?"
Elisha together with Elijah. Elijah is about to be taken up to heaven but Elisha doesn't want to leave his side. Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah's spirit. It was given to him.

Day 7
Jehoram and Jehoshaphat went out to war and allied together.  There was no water so they called upon Elisha.  Elisha told them that he would only help because of Jehoshaphat  Because did he right in Gods eyes.  They were successful because of this.  Sometimes when unbelievers hang out with Christians they will be blessed.
