Week 49 December 3-9

Day 1
We have an eternal heavenly dwelling and we have the spirit as a guarantee. We walk by faith not by sight. Make it your aim to please God. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has passed away and the new has come. For our sake God made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
Godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. Give generously. Sow sparingly and you will reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Give as you have decided in your heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. God makes grace abound to you, and having sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. God will always supply your needs. Overflow with thanksgiving to God.

Day 2
Take every thought captive to obey Christ. Paul defends his ministry. He doesn't just write how to live but he lives his life as an example. He warns them about the false apostles and speaks of his hard sufferings to show his weakness. Paul had a thorn in the flesh that kept him humble and God tells us that his grace is sufficient for us, for his power is made perfect in weakness. For when I am weak, then I am strong in Christ.
Paul was concerned that the church was not behaving properly. He told them to repent and turn from sin. Examine and test yourselves. He prayed for their restoration. He told them to comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace and the God of love and peace will be with you.

Day 3
Paul continues to travel to Greece and back to Macedonia. Paul speaks about his testimony and what he went through and how he began to know Jesus. The people there were being confused by the Judaizers and felt like they needed to be back under the law. We aren't justified by works of the law but by faith in Christ. The people there were being confused by the Judaizers and felt like they needed to be back under the law. If we want to live by the law we must abide by the entire law which is impossible for us. The law was given to show our sin. It showed us how much we need a savior. To go back under the law says that what Christ did on the cross wasn't needed or wasn't sufficient. Christ set us free so stand firm and don't submit again to slavery. Walk by the Spirit not by the flesh. The fruits of the Spirit our love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Don't grow weary in doing good.

Day 4
Paul longed to see and encourage and be encouraged by the Romans. He wasn't ashamed of the Gospel. The wrath of God is against all ungodliness and unrighteousness. God gave them who were ungodly and unrighteous in the lust of their hearts to impurity. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie. God gave them to dishonorable  passions – homosexuality. They did not see fit to acknowledge God. God's kindness is meant to lead us to repentance for God is always faithful. Through the love comes knowledge of sin and through faith we can believe and be righteous. We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We are justified by faith. We are blessed because we are forgiven and our sins are covered. The Lord does not count our sins against us.

Day 5
We had access by faith into Grace and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Christ died for us while we were still sinners. Be dead to sin and alive to God. Our old self is crucified and we can set free from sin. Sin has no dominion over us. The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, he has set us free. We live according to the spirit. Set your mind on the things of the Spirit.

Day 6
The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing  with the glory that is to be revealed to us. All things work together for those who are called according to his purpose. God is for us who can be against us? Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ! If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved.  How beautiful are the feet of him who brings good news. We are grafted into the family of Christ. God is a just God who has kindness and sovereignty. From Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to Him be the glory forever. Present your bodies as living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. God gives us gifts, use them to glorify God and let your love be genuine. Abhor  what is evil, hold fast to what is good. Outdo one another and showing honor. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be consistent in prayer and live in harmony and peaceably with all.

Day 7
Be subject to the governing authorities as God has appointed them. We don't owe others except to love each other, love fulfills the law.  Welcome the weak in faith and encourage them, and not judge. Every knee will bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Never cause another brother to stumble. We who are strong have an obligation to the weak and not  to please ourselves.  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Paul always gives glory of his ministry to Christ not himself. Be wise to what is good and innocent to what is evil.

Happy reading  - Jeannie
